November 3, 2007: Cargill E. coli Beef Recall

Cargill E. coli Beef Recall News – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Cargill Meat Solutions Corp, of Wyalusing, PA, is recalling approximately 1,084,384 pounds of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

About E. Coli

Symptoms of E. coli infection may include severe abdominal cramps, diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting. Sometimes a low-grade fever is present. Children and the elderly are at greatest risk for suffering complications resulting from E. coli infection, including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombocytopenia purpura (TTP).
